The SLAT program currently uses an online application format that may be accessed through the Graduate College website. The SLAT application requests many details and documents about your academic, personal and professional trajectory. Please know that you can log in and out of the system as you prepare your materials for submission. The information you have already uploaded will be saved with your partially completed application. You may continue updating and changing your information until you pay the application fee and make the final submission of your materials.
By clicking on the link below, you will be taken to the University of Arizona Graduate College website. Please follow the instructions to create a username and password. Once in the system you will need to select that you are applying for: for example, the Ph.D. program in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching. You will then be directed to our online application.
Part of the SLAT application includes questions regarding your interest in financial assistance through a Graduate Associate position in Teaching or Research (GAT or GAR). If your application is considered, relevant materials (CV, letters of recommendation) will be forwarded to the appropriate department for review. A small number of fellowships may be available. Decisions regarding fellowship support are made by the SLAT Executive Council after admission decisions have been made.
The application fee is $95.00 for international applications and $85 for domestic applications, to be paid at the end of the online application process.
Applicants to the SLAT Program are asked to use a specific GRE and TOEFL code. The GRE and TOEFL codes are:
- Institution code: 4832 (University of Arizona)
- Department code: NOT NECESSARY. Please do not indicate a departmental code for your SLAT application. Your scores will be received and processed centrally by the University of Arizona Graduate College and then associated with your application by name. Please be sure the name you list on your testing materials and in your application materials match.
Application Deadline: Applications for Fall 2020 are currently open and will close on December 15, 2019. International and domestic (U.S.) applicants must submit ALL application materials by December 15, 2019 for consideration for the Fall 2020 cohort.
